![]() If Metroid Prime 4 had stayed with Bandai Namco, potential remasters would have likely been handled by them and not by the people who originally worked on the Metroid Prime trilogy.Īdmittedly, Nintendo may outsource potential Metroid Prime trilogy remasters to other studios but having Retro Studios working on the latest game means they will at least have more input then they would have otherwise had. Porting the old Metroid Prime games to the Switch would help with promoting Metroid Prime 4, as well as giving it some much-needed context to modern gamers. This is more of a hope on my part but it would make sense now that Retro Studios is involved again. We May Even Get Some ‘Metroid Prime’ Trilogy Remasters Out Of This Going back to Retro Studios makes a great deal of sense, as it allows Nintendo to work with a studio that intimately understands the series and can also benefit from learning from the mistakes already made by Bandai Namco on this new game. It seems my concern was well-placed and Nintendo has now pulled the plug on that studio. When Metroid Prime 4 was announced, my main concern was whether Bandai Namco could deliver on the game in a design sense. Spanning the GameCube and Wii, these three games rewrote how Metroid as a gaming series could work, all with some amazing level design to boot. ![]() The original Metroid Prime trilogy is a fantastic collection of games. ![]() Retro Studios Know ‘Metroid Prime’ Better Than Anyone The result is often a game that is much better than one that was allowed to limp on through feature creep, not to mention that the overall budgetary expenditure tends to be less as well. ![]()
